The RTFKT x Nike AR Genesis Hoodie, originally revealed in April, will officially launch on Thursday, 21st July. The hoodie is Nike’s first hoodie with RTFKT Studios, its newly acquired Web3 fashion and collectible studio.
Using augmented reality (AR), the hoodie – issued as an NFT – can be worn both by avatars and real-life holders. With an NFC (near field communication) chip, the hoodie will be able to communicate wirelessly with digital assets in the future.
A “Black” colourway of the RTFKT x Nike AR Hoodie will feature branded graphics, including RTFKT Studio‘s lightning bolt logo and a QR code-inspired graphic that can be used to add virtual effects to RTFKT’s digital platform.
Limited Supply
RTFKT x Nike AR Genesis Hoodie’s private mint will go live on Thursday, July 21st. Initially, the hoodie will be available to Clone X and RTFKT x Nike Dunks Genesis CryptoKicks owners, before going on public sale.
A lack of supply was a source of frustration for some. Not all holders will get one. One Twitter user complained:
