Where it stands

Perseverance had driven 45.22 km by 11 October 2026, sol 2,006, surpassing Opportunity’s 45.16 km record. NASA reports 29 rock and regolith samples. Its first extended mission began in October and is planned to run to roughly the end of 2028.

The mission

Perseverance explores Jezero Crater and its surroundings, examining ancient environments and caching samples for a possible return to Earth.
