Infleqtion entangles 30 logical qubits made from just 80 atoms

Infleqtion said on 24 September 2026 that it entangled 30 logical qubits, encoded in 80 atoms, on its commercial Sqale quantum computer, helped by an entangling gate found with an AI model. It targets 100 logical qubits in 2028.

QUBIT TECHNOLOGIES / HARDWARE APPROACHESIonQ has announced Superion 256, with orders open and deliveries planned for 2027. The company reports first ions in a prototype using SkyWater-fabricated processors.MAJOR HARDWARE COMPANIES / FULL-STACK PLAYERSGermany moved six start-up-led consortia into the next phase of its €640m ($729.8m) Quantum Computing Competition on 25 September, among them QUDORA's €122m ($139.8m) NFQC-1k trapped-ion project; each faces a test of at least 24 qubits at 99.5% two-qubit fidelity by 31 March 2027. IonQ's Superion 256 will be the first quantum processor at Nvidia's Boston research centre, due for installation in 2027, and Microsoft opened a Maryland centre on 22 September where DARPA tests Majorana 2 qubits on site. D-Wave, Rigetti, Quantinuum and PsiQuantum have held definitive CHIPS R&D agreements of up to $100m each since 8 September, and the DOE's Q Competition takes applications until 19 October.SOFTWARE / CLOUD / DEVELOPER PLATFORMSOracle and Quantinuum’s 11 August announcement plans to install Helios inside a US OCI AI data centre. Oracle describes a quantum-service preview in the coming months. The announcement is a deployment plan and does not confirm general availability on OCI.
