NIST finalises guidance for migration to post-quantum cryptography

What happened
NIST published the final IR 8547 on 27 October. It sets out migration to post-quantum cryptography, with quantum-vulnerable RSA, elliptic-curve and finite-field algorithms deprecated after 2030 and disallowed after 2035. Priority federal systems have earlier deadlines: key establishment by 31 December 2030 and signatures by 31 December 2031. The scope and system category determine which date applies.
