YFARMX ARCADE · 3D SKATEBOARDING

KERB

KERB is a 3D skateboarding game set in a fictional London district at golden hour. Push along the Thames, grind the rails beside the buses and kickflip the big stairs. It is free and it runs in your browser.

KERB gameplay: the skater rides a plane-tree promenade beside the Thames at sunset, with an observation wheel, a Gothic clock tower and a domed skyline across the water.
In-game capture: the riverside at sunset, where every session starts.

On a phone? KERB is played with a keyboard or a gamepad, so open this page on a desktop to skate.

What you can do on the board

KERB's skater can ollie, nollie, flip, grab, spin, grind, slide, manual and wallride, and every trick chains into a scored combo. The flips run from the kickflip and heelflip to the 360 flip, varial kickflip, hardflip and impossible. Grinds and slides work on curved rails and quarter-pipe coping as well as straight rails and ledges. Clearing a gap earns a named bonus, and a bail sends the skater down as a ragdoll.

The follow camera keeps clear of walls, and orbit, tripod and free cameras with depth of field are there for filming. R replays the last 10 seconds with automatic camera angles and slow motion, and P opens photo mode. Around you, 36 vehicles drive on the left, buses call at the stop, cars give way at the zebra crossing, trains cross the viaduct, 35 pedestrians walk the pavements and pigeons scatter.

KERB plays on a keyboard or a standard gamepad, and F1 brings up the controls sheet at any time.

Flips and grabs take a direction: hold it on W, A, S and D or the arrows, then press J or K. With J, left or no direction is a kickflip, right a heelflip, down a pop shove-it, down and left a 360 flip, and up a hardflip.

What is in the district

The district, Southwark Reach, covers about 260 by 190 metres of skateable ground in six areas.

Riverside
The Thames with a sun glitter path, the long River Rail, a plane-tree promenade under festoon lights, and a skyline across the water with a cathedral dome, City towers and an observation wheel.
South Bank
A graffiti-covered undercroft beneath a brutalist hall, the Big Twelve stairs with three handrails, a hubba, the terrace drop and a forecourt with its own twelve-stair.
Glass Plaza
A 22-storey glass tower, granite manual pads, a curved rail round a planter, a mirror pool, the station entrance and a tiled subway.
High Street
Red bus lanes, a zebra crossing with Belisha beacons, guard railings to grind beside the traffic, and a brick railway viaduct with shops in its arches.
Backstreets
A multi-storey car park you can ride all the way down, and the Rooftop Gap across an alley to a warehouse roof.
East Yards
A building site with a DIY quarter pipe, jersey barriers and a tower crane that swings round, plus a terrace with a mural and a loading dock.

It runs best in Chrome or Edge on a desktop

KERB draws a full 3D district with WebGL 2, so it wants a desktop browser. Chrome and Edge run it best, because they support the WebGL feature it uses to batch its drawing; other browsers take a slower path. The first visit downloads about 40 MB and paints the graffiti for the walls, which takes a few seconds; after that the browser keeps both. If frames run slow the game steps down from high to medium quality on its own.
