Pussy Riot reveals its raised $4.5 million for the fight for equality

Nadya Tolokonnikova the co-founder of Pussy Riot has launched her own Web 3 project called UnicornDAO, which is dedicated to “empowering, showcasing, and supporting female and LGBTQ+ artists”. As the NFT sphere is mainly male dominated and females are underrepresented, she aims to tackle this imbalance.

Tolokonnikova, best known for her huge involvement in Pussy Riot. A protest music band who fights for female rights around the world, has aimed to leave a mark on the virtual world. 

Alongside Tolokonnikova, she is backed by Rebecca Lamisa and John Caudwell, a British billionaire who made his wealth via successful mobile phone retailer ‘phones4u’, making him a superb edition to the team. Both co-founders have expressed UnicornDAO to be a “feminist” movement” which enables the right “tools to create much-needed equality in the Web3 space”.

The NFT collection will consist of three tiers, bronze (5eth), silver (6eth), and gold (7eth) granting holders access to film screenings, red carpet access and opening or closing ceremonies for events. 

The website states “Unicorn DAO will have up to 55 initial members, who will pool their capital to make investments. Each member can purchase 100,000 Unicorn DAO units for 50 ETH (up to 900,000 units for 450 ETH).” An in person launch will be held on June 21 in NYC.
