HTX DAO (HTX) is the governance token linked to the HTX exchange, formerly Huobi, with a total supply of 999.99 trillion tokens and a quarterly pledge-and-burn programme.
What it is
HTX DAO (HTX) is the governance token of a decentralised autonomous organisation built around HTX, the crypto exchange previously known as Huobi, one of the industry’s oldest trading venues. The DAO was established on 18 January 2024 and presents itself as an experiment in handing an exchange’s direction to token holders, who debate and vote on proposals through the DAO’s forum and voting portal. The memorable fact is the denomination: total supply is 999,990,000,000,000 tokens, effectively one quadrillion, so each token is priced in millionths of a dollar.
How it works
HTX is a governance token issued on several chains at once, as TRC-20 on TRON, ERC-20 on Ethereum, BEP-20 on BNB Chain and on BTTC, with the TRON contract the most used. Holders acquire voting rights in proportion to their tokens and can delegate them, and the DAO publishes proposals and results openly. The whitepaper sets out the distribution: 19 per cent to early contributors and the public, 19 per cent to a community access programme, 15 per cent to partnerships, 17 per cent to platform development, and the rest across developer grants, research and ecosystem support. Supply is fixed at issue, and a pledge-and-burn programme removes tokens over time, with burns announced quarterly and the DAO’s site reporting around $220m of tokens pledged and burned to date.
The story so far
Huobi was founded in China in 2013 and rebranded as HTX in 2023, a period in which the exchange became closely associated with the TRON founder Justin Sun, who has publicly advised it. The DAO followed in January 2024, opening a voluntary channel for holders of the old HT exchange token to convert into HTX. The launch was not without friction: after the whitepaper’s release, the community itself raised concerns about the enormous initial supply, a discussion the project addressed openly in its own publications. Since then the token’s story has been the steady rhythm of quarterly burn announcements, most recently for the second quarter of 2026.
Where it stands
As of late July 2026 HTX ranks about 47th among cryptocurrencies by market value, at roughly $1.7bn, trading near $0.0000018 according to CoinGecko, with about 898 trillion tokens circulating. The things to watch are the quarterly burns and whether they keep pace with the vast supply, the health of the HTX exchange itself, since an exchange token ultimately leans on its exchange, and how much real decision-making power the DAO’s votes carry in practice. Exchange tokens concentrate platform risk in a single asset, and nothing on this page is investment advice.
